Accounting Services & Education

Accounting Services support small business owners to develop their organization through the implementation of strong accounting practices. Businesses work one-on-one with an accountant to set up and learn the technology platforms — utilizing QuickBooks, and a variety of integrated platforms to support payroll, expenses, and accounts payable. Program participants receive subscriptions to the online platforms at reduced cost to support their business development efforts.

Initial services last 12 months. At the end of the 12 months participants have the option to continue to receive accounting services on a fee for service basis.

Accounting Bootcamp

Western Michigan University (WMU) and the West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (WMHCC) invite local businesses to a 5-week Accounting Bootcamp designed for Hispanic small business owners looking to improve their financial literacy and bookkeeping practices. This in-depth program, delivered in English and Spanish, will provide you with the skills and support needed to take your business to the next level.

Application Timeline: 

Application Open: Feb 24-March 31st
Applications Review: March 31st- April 4th
Acceptance: April 4th-8th & Enrollment

 

Dates: Mondays, April 21 to May 19

April 21 | 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
April 28 | 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

May 5 | 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

May 12 | 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
May 19 | 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Location: Western Michigan University 
200 Ionia Ave SW, Grand Rapids, MI  

Cost: $2,500 + monthly accounting services
upon completion of the program 

Qualifications:

  • Registered with the State of Michigan
  • Have a business bank account
  • $10,000 – $250,000 in gross revenue
  • Attend all sessions of the 5 week boot camp
  • Commit to full program attendance and 1 year of bookkeeping services with WMHCC
  • Agree to monthly meetings with the WMHCC Finance Manager and provide necessary documents on time for ongoing accounting support
